Abstract


Agriculture sector is a vital sector for food supplement yet again it is appeared so as it is experienced like food crisis lately. This situation shows the importance of agriculture among the sectors and priority in quality as well. Economical crisis, rapid population growths, demand acceleration for the food products, have raised the severity and necessity of agriculture. For this respect, agriculture sector has to be supported in order to prevent the pernicious effects and conditions. Turkish Republic of Agriculture Bank and Agriculture Credit Cooperatives which is mainly invested by the above cited bank are the main actors of financing agriculture sector in Turkey. Small scaled farming system is dominated in rural area, for this reason agricultural credits are mainly important to get the necessary inputs and marketing for a sustainable agricultural production. Rural development oriented projects are increased as well as business loans in agriculture. For this purpose, after 2002, Development Program in Nuts 2 Zone has implemented by State Planning Organization to achieve economical and social development among rural areas of the country, to support and to promote economical activities of natural and legal persons’ agricultural production, process, and marketing investments. In this study, the role of agricultural credits in rural development, state credits and the application of these credits by agricultural credits cooperatives are analyzed.
