Abstract

The importance of tourism in terms of socio-economic aspects necessitates countries to give more importance to this sector. Because tourism is a political tool for a country not only in terms of the balance of payments and the volume of domestic economic activities, but also in terms of the rate of development and the balanced distribution of income distributions between regions. In the process of globalization, regional development agencies have been established in Turkey, especially as the development issue has started to be handled at a more local level. The aim of this study is to determine the impact and role of the Eastern Anatolia Development Agency (DAKA), which covers the TRB2 Level Region, in the regional development of tourism. Within the scope of the study, document analysis was preferred as a research method and descriptive analysis was used. As a result of the study, It has been determined that the Eastern Anatolia Development Agency has not set any goals and objectives for tourism, has focused on promotional activities for the region since 2010, has carried out activities for archaeological and cultural heritage, organized scientific activities to find solutions to the problems experienced by the region in terms of tourism, and works mainly with public institutions within the scope of the project and supports projects for alternative tourism types. It is thought that the findings obtained from the study will contribute to the field of tourism and development agencies and may be beneficial to the studies to be carried out later.
